A True Story About MR. DVD

MR. DVD, an honorary nick name was given to David Ming Liu, owner and founder of Longwell Technology Int'l Ltd., by one of Longwell's biggest customers in Germany in September 2001. Mr. DVD obtained his bachelor's degree in Business Administration (BBA) from Western Oregon University, Oregon, USA in 1992 and Master of Business Adminstration (MBA) from Willamette University, Salem, Oregon, USA in 1994. Now he is currently working on his Doctorate of Business Administration (DBA) from City University of Hong Kong. His thesis will be focusing on IT Innovation upgrade methods for computer hardware industry in Greater China. Mr. DVD is hoping to finish his DBA degree by 2009.

MR. DVD, we want more DVD!

MR. DVD first entered computer industry in 1992 in Los Angeles, USA, then moved to Hong Kong in 1995 and worked for a public listed PC company as vice president for six years in charge of channel marketing on optical storage products. With nine years marketing and sourcing experience, plus travelling and visiting customers in more than 35 countries across Asia, Oceania, Africa, and Europe, Mr. DVD founded Longwell Technology International Ltd. in August 2001. Thanks to ever increasing demand of DVDROM drive and DVD header shortage caused by demand in Sony PS2 around October 2001, DVD drive became sudden big shortage for PC market especially for Europe market since many brand PC makers had standardized DVD ROM in their PCs. DVD ROM manufacturers' little allocation could hardly satisfy their demand. Therefore, they came to look for more DVD ROM in Asia. Because of his global market knowledge, MR. DVD began to buy DVDROM from all over the world, goods were shipped from Hong Kong, Singapore, Japan, Australia, USA, Taiwan to Europe at the volume of more than 10K pcs per month till Christmas 2001 when DVDROM demand began to drop. During the four months from September to December, DVD was such a hot commodity and when Mr. DVD sent one offer out, the stock was taken within few minutes and calls coming in like crazy: "Mr. DVD, we want more DVD".

"DVD is in my name"

To capitalize his popularity with global sourcing strength in DVDROM, David began to promote his nickname "Mr. DVD" as company's core competence in optical disk drive. "DVD is in my name (DaViD)" and "DVD is me". Thus, MR. DVD has become an actual, practical and funny brand name name indentifying with Longwell. As a matter of fact, Mr. DVD along with the cartoon figure has officially become Longwell's registered trade mark in Hong Kong on December 05, 2003.

DVD is the future

With DVDRW becoming strong since 2002, Longwell has been taking advantage of Mr. DVD's biz model by focusing on brand names like Pioneer, NEC, TEAC, and Sony. In the first few months of 2003, Longwell has sold tens of thousands pcs DVDRW to all over the world. It is Mr. DVD's strong desire to continuously bring full range dynamic DVD related products to the world PC market to live up to his name as Mr. DVD. Due to ever increasing market demand for high end Video and Digital devices, Mr. DVD is gradually enhancing its Mr. DVD product line from single DVD product line to a more broader and up-to-date Mr. Digital, Video, and Data storage core competence by extending to the areas of Digital (camera, MP3), Video (dispaly cards, LCD) and Data storage media under MR. DVD brand.

MR. DVD in Hong Kong

To further expand local Hong Kong market, MR. DVD set up Longview Technology Group LTD. in April 2003 with a keen focus on Data storage, Video display and Digital porducts and Longview has become the top player in DVD products and enjoys a sizable market share locally with more than 200 resellers and dealers distributing its products. As an owner of SME in Hong Kong, Mr. DVD is very proud of his company accumulated sales of ONE MILLION PIECES OPTICAL DISK DRIVES milestone by May 2007 since the founding of Longwell on August 01,2001 and he wants to express his appreication and thanks to the Almighty Lord, his loving family, devoted staff, and reliable suppliers, and great customers from all over the world for the wonderful achievement in distributing optical drives.
